Billboard // Soaky Siren Isn't Falling For the 'Dope Boys' in New Video: Exclusive

No one is going to hold Soaky Siren back in the video for her latest single “Dope Boys,” premiering today (Oct. 2) exclusively on Billboard.

The L.A.-based Bahamian singer-songwriter delivers a visually-stunning video for the dynamic track that finds her dropping a few nuggets of truth amidst the glitzy temptations surrounding her. The thick bassline and confectionary synths provided by producer DallasK cloak a deeper meaning that the Latin Grammy-nominated songwriter weaves into the lyrics, which focus on her experience with the false promise and illusion of wealth. 

“Gotta be careful about the lifestyles we choose, man. Nothing is without consequence. That’s what I wanted to highlight in this record,” she tells Billboard. “This is an anthem that’s saying ‘don’t get finessed by shiny things because they for sure come at a price’ and it’s never worth it. Ever.”

The visual ties together the song’s message with a number of elaborate set pieces complete with gold chains and a flashy sports car that merge together to form one undeniable flex. However, Soaky plays the part to perfection as she throws a few unimpressed glances and commands the top of the podium with some rich choreography. Escaping the allure of it all, Soaky Siren proves she’s all that she needs. 

“Dope Boys” is taken from Soaky Siren’s debut EP Lucaya, released in September via The Harbour and available now here.
